Canada Lee plays Stephen Kumalo the black minister searching for his son and other family members lost in the depths of Johannesburg, Charles Carson is James Jarvis and Joyce Carey is Mrs. Jarvis the white farm couple whose son is murdered during a robbery, Sidney Poitier plays Reverend Msimangu assisting Mr. Kumalo in his quest.
